S. D After almost thirty years, it still remains my favorite movie of all time. I watch it at least once a year and sometimes will watch it several times over a few months. Other than some historical inaccuracies (which doesn't take away from the film as it does not purport to be an accurate biopic), this movie has everything one could hope for: fantastic dialogue with some humor thrown in (not that it's a comedy in any way, but it reminds us that even during wartime we can still make jokes), awesome individual action scenes, epic battle scenes, drama, two love stories, a great, ruthless antagonist, a shocking betrayal, a fantastic soundtrack, and of course the fight for freedom. I know Gladiator also won Best Picture five years later and Russell Crowe won best actor, but I always felt that the battle scenes were just cheap imitations of Braveheart's, and the quest for vengeance simply does measure up to the quest to win independence for a country. Just my take.
